<p>For recent years, I&#8217;ve been endeavoring to provide more real foodstuff to my family, eliminating the highly processed junk as well as preservatives. It still teaches you to avoid many refined and processed and high carbohydrate foods such as breads, pastries, cakes, soda and chocolate. <p>The South Beach Diet was designed by Dr. Arthur Agatston, an American cardiologist and Marie Almon, a dietician. Their original purpose for this diet was to prevent heart disease but it has a tremendous result that it has gained popularity as a proven means to lose weight.  Unlike other diets, this one doesn&#8217;t label itself as &#8220;low fat&#8221; or &#8220;low carb&#8221;. Instead it tried to help dieters understand how to eat the best foods for them, from all food groups while teaching you that weight loss can be successfully achieved by eating both good carbs and good fats.<br />
<H2>South Beach Diet Allowed Foods</H2><br />
South Beach Diet is divided into three phases with each having its own particular functions. The first phase is the strictest and is designed both to give a quick start to the weight loss and also to develop the pattern of eating a healthier, more stable diet. You will be encouraged to eat at least three good meals and two good snacks every day.<br />
<H2>South Beach Diet Phase 1 Recipes</H2>Phase one may seem a bit strict to some, because you&#8217;re trying to severely limit the amount of carbohydrates eaten each day. Though not as restricted as the Atkins diet, South Beach Diet generally allows about 30 grams of carbs per day during the first phase. This is done to help jump start your weight loss, and kick the carb cravings most of us have. During this stage, it eliminates all sugars, processed carbohydrates, fruits and some higher-glycemic vegetables, so it really entails more patience during this phase.</p>

<p>Phase two increases the amount of carbs allowed, and allowed in more dairy products so it is not considered too restrictive. If you&#8217;ve been following the diet plan properly, this phase will feel like a treat. Phase two is usually kept up for however long is needed to lose your desired amount of weight as it re-introduces most vegetables fruits  and some whole grains.</p>
<p>Phase three is a lifelong maintenance stage which you should follow to maintain the ideal weight  you want. Once you&#8217;ve lost all or most of the weight you needed to, you&#8217;ll want to slowly increase the amount of carbs &#8211; good carbs remember &#8211; eaten each day. This has to be done slowly or else you will again trigger the strong cravings for sweets and other simple carbs, and giving in to those cravings will put you right back at the beginning.</p>
<p>South Beach Diet is already a tried and tested weight loss method because it has already showed favorable results conducted by Kraft Foods with 69 subjects and in 1998-1999 trial completed by 54 participants. Both studies showed favorable results in three months. Consult the doctor first before trying this out and combine it with exercise and a healthy lifestyle.<br />

Drink: Black coffee, unsweetened tea, water or cranberry juice</p>

Food: Cabbage soup plus a baked potato with butter plus vegetables (no peas, corn or beans</p>
<p><strong>Day 3</strong><br />
Food: Cabbage soup plus varieties of the above vegetables and fruits</p>
<p><strong>Day 4</strong><br />
Food: Cabbage soup plus you can eat up to 8 bananas and drink 2 glasses of skim milk</p>
<p><strong>Day 5</strong><br />
Food: Cabbage soup along with up to 20 ounces of chicken, beef or fish and up to 6 fresh tomatoes followed by at least 6-8 glasses of water</p>
<p><strong>Day 6</strong><br />
Food: Cabbage soup along with unlimited vegetables and up to 3 beef</p>
<p><strong>Day 7</strong><br />
Food: Cabbage soup along with up to 2 cups of brown rice plus fruit juices (unsweetened) and vegetables.</p></blockquote>
<p>Notice that the quantity of your food intake has increase toward the end of the week this is because to help you adjust anew in your eating habit while avoiding to get sick.  This cabbage soup diet should be done for only a week at a time and not continually.</p>
<p>Take precaution of your activities when doing the cabbage soup diet because there are some dieters who were reported to feel light-headed particularly during the first few days on diet.</p>
<h3>Cabbage Soup Diet Recipe</h3>
<blockquote><p>1 pack of dry onion soup mix</p>
<p>2 cubes of chicken or beef bouillon</p>
<p>1 celery stick (not the whole stalk), diced</p>
<p>1/2 head diced cabbage</p>
<p>3 carrots, sliced</p>
<p>2 bell peppers, sliced</p>
<p>6 large green onions, or 1 large yellow, white or purple onion, diced</p>
<p>2 cans of tomatoes whole or diced</p>
<p>Cooking spray</p>
<p>Pepper, Salt, garlic powder,  parsley and soy sauce to taste or your favorite seasoning</p>
<p>Saute all vegetables until tender except tomatoes and cabbage. Add  12 cups of water and then the cabbage while tossing bouillon cubes, soup mix, and seasonings. Cook the soup until the whole ingredients are tender then you can add the tomatoes.</p></blockquote>

<p>Aside from doing daily exercise, adding some fat burning food to your diet can really benefit you in trimming down your waistline. Fiber and high protein foods are great foods that help you burn more calories.</p>
<p><b>EGGS – </b> are rich in protein that help you burn undesirable fat on your midsection. Some people are skeptical to consume more eggs than the recommended daily amount because of the cholesterol you will find in eggs. In fact, there’s a recent study that shows dietary cholesterol has a slight effect on blood cholesterol but instead the actual culprit here is the Dietary Fat which elevates your bad cholesterol.</p>
<p>Anyway, if you feel doubt about it, you can take off the egg yolk and still get the benefits of high protein found in eggs. </p>
<p><strong>Low Fat Dairy Products – </strong>Based on one article that I read, people who consumed low fat dairy products such the like of low fat milk or non fat yogurt 3 to 4 times daily are likely to lost 70 percent more fat. So taking your recommended amount of dairy products not just only fortify your bones, they also help you burn those unwanted body fats.</p>
<p>So if you love milk and other dairy products, I guess it’s better to invest in non-fat or low-fat varieties.</p>
<p><strong>Beans – </strong>beans are great source of fiber, protein and iron though they are frequently linked with the gastrointestinal disturbance.</p>

<p>The most excellent beans are as follows:</p>

<p>But oftentimes, there are some beans that you need to consume moderately especially refried ones because they comprise large number of saturated fat while baked ones are normally brimming with sugar. Though you will get proteins but you’ll be eating too much sugar and fat that you don’t need.</p>
<p>However, be sure to cook the beans thoroughly. One of my favorite is the Edamame which is an organic soybean in a pod. It’s so easy to cook, just boil them and add a little bit of salt. They are actually delectable and good for your health.</p>
<p><strong>Oatmeal –</strong> as you might observe, plenty of oatmeal brands are now advertising that eating more oatmeal can help lower your cholesterol level. For the reason that oatmeal is made of soluble fiber that flushes bad digestive acids out from our system. It is advisable that you must choose the unsweetened and unflavored ones though sometimes you‘ll be tempted to grab the cinnamon flavor which is loaded of sugar butter. But to avoid those flavored ones, you can add fruits to your oatmeal to enhance the flavor</p>
<p>Eating Oatmeal can help you fight heart disease and colon cancer.</p>
<p><strong>Olive Oil – </strong> is considered as one of the good fats that your body needs and as a matter of fact; it keeps your cholesterol down and helps you burn fat because of its richness for monounsaturated fat.  An ounce of extra virgin oil is equivalent to 85% of the daily value for monounsaturated fat, so rather than drinking down an orange juice for breakfast, more dieters are taking the route to devour extra olive oil instead.</p>
<p><strong>Whole Grains –</strong> Nowadays, everybody seems to be allergic to carbs, but as a matter of fact our body needs carbohydrates and it’s not a good idea to eliminate carbs in our diets. It’s actually the Bad carbs that are not good for our body such the like of bagels, white breads, white rice and pastas to cite some example.<br />
Since these bad carbs are being processed, they leave you loads of starch while stripping all the nutrients.  Don’t be tricked by breads that are being labeled as “wheat”, regular wheat bread lacks of minerals and vitamins, it only looks brown because bakers added some molasses on it. So make sure that the bread that you are buying is being labeled as “whole grain”.</p>
<p><strong>Leans Cuts of Meat – </strong>Beef and Turkey are good as they help you build muscle and boost your immune system yet you need to take precaution as some are basted with fatty substance while beef contain saturated fat. Of course, you can eat beef but you need to eat the leanest cut like “round “or “loin” as you can find in the label.</p>
<p>Tuna and Salmon are great source of protein too as they both contain omega 3 fatty acids that are actually healthy fats. <br /><BR><BR><BR></p>
