Don’t mislead yourself into thinking that the quick fix to your everlasting happiness is to look thin or skinny if there is some matter of contention that takes place in your life. Because if you are dispirited or depressed and turn to food for pleasure, the weight gain is nothing but a symptom, it’s not the real ground of being sad.

Up till you resolve the main issue from the inside and out, you will realize the manifestation in some other ways of your life. If it’s not bingeing, then it could be other habit-forming demeanor.

Being mentioned that, I’m not pointing here that anybody who wishes to lose weight is implementing it for incorrect reasons. However, to those of you who desire to look thinner just because of the remarks from other people, you should take a deep look at your motivation for the weight loss.

In case you are an emotional eater, you have to focus on the real issue what’s the reason behind why you overindulged yourself (childhood trauma, depression, low self esteem, etc). If the root of the problem is not being dealt with, it would be an endless struggle with food or whatsoever coping mechanism you are practicing in order to handle or manage your doldrums.

A long time friend confessed to me that she lost her motivation on losing weight and tends to find food as her comfort zone yet she wanted desperately to lose weight. After some few conversations with her, I realized the root of her depression was their family problem as her parents had just gotten into a messy divorce. So the main source of her problem was not actually the need to lose weight.

In this way, the key to resolve her issue was to look for a healthful way to handle her parent’s divorce, which means her weight gain was simply the indication that attributes to her real problem such as depression and sadness over her family’ state of affairs.

If these circumstances are not stranger to your ears, I guess you better talk to a family member, to your friend or you can choose to go counseling to help you get to the heart of the matter. Once you have known the root of your problem, losing weight will turn out to be a cinch in contrary to what you’ve pictured out.
